Dr. Kenneth Randall Smith, D.O., was born on July 17, 1952, in Plain View, Texas. Dr Smith is a distinguished osteopathic physician with a long-standing career in both medical practice and education. He completed his undergraduate studies in psychology at Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma, from 1970 to 1974, and earned his D.O. degree from the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979. He interned at John C. Lincoln Hospital from 1979 to 1980.
Dr. Smith has been actively involved in various medical institutions throughout his career, including serving in several leadership positions at Phoenix General Hospital, such as Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Intern Training Committee, Chairman of the Department of Family Practice, and member of the Board of Trustees. He also held positions at Community Hospital Medical Center and Glenview Medical Clinic.
He has been recognized for his contributions to osteopathic medicine through various awards and honors, including the Upjohn Award for Outstanding Student in 1979 and membership in the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities in 1974. Dr. Smith has also contributed to the academic community through his publication on cardiac pacemakers in the Journal of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Smith has been an active member of several osteopathic organizations and has held teaching appointments at multiple institutions, including the Community Hospital Medical Center, Pacific College of Osteopathy, Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, and Midwestern University.
Outside of his profession, Dr. Smith enjoys family activities, golf, fishing, and cycling. He has been self-employed since 1980 and currently practices in Glendale, AZ. He resides with his wife, Mary Ann Smith, and has two children, Kimberly and Kathryn Smith
