About

Dr. Amalia Pineres has over 28 years experience in family medicine and is a board certified physician. After earning her undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona, Dr. Pineres then attended the University of Illinois for her medical school and residency training. In 1992, Dr. Pineres opened her own family medicine clinic in Globe, Arizona, where she delivered over 350 babies and cared for hundreds of families. During this time, she served as a board member for Cobre Valley Community Hospital, was vice-chief of staff for her hospital, treasurer for the Arizona Academy of Family Practice, and earned her fellow for family medicine. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Dr. Pineres enjoyed caring for the Hispanic population, and continued to do so after moving to Payson, Arizona in 2005. In 2015, Dr. Pineres joined with Dr. Vandruff to open IMS Primary Care in Payson where she has flourished since.

With her husband John, her two step children Phoebe and Bob, her son John, Dr. Pineres revels in the outdoor activities Payson has to offer. She loves boating on Lake Roosevelt, camping, hiking, hunting, reading, and plays scrabble competitively. With three beautiful young grandchildren with hopefully more on the way, she is reminded every day how entertaining and joyful family time can be.
